d'avant-hier où la chaleur nous avait empêchés de<br />
dormir, - Mary ayant, cette fois-ci, laissé ouverte<br />
la porte de notre chambre qui nous a du moins<br />
laissé une suffisante provision d'air, nous avons<br />
pour la première fois breakfasté en compagnie<br />
de Francis, d'Anne et de Francis, parce<br />
qu'ils ont projeté depuis hier de recommencer,<br />
avant de quitter Luxor, la fameuse chasse<br />
au loup-garou. Le tourisme, si crédule,<br />
commence à rendre ces fellahs des environs des<br />
lieux d'escales, singulièrement ingénieux,<br />
sinon roublards. Et ils y trouvent leur profit.<br />
Quand on pense que le fameux Moussa<br />
avec ses serpents domestiqués, arrivé, parait-il,<br />
à se faire tous les jours qque dix ou douze<br />
livres Egyptiennes, de telle sorte qu'il compte<br />
aujourd'hui pour un des plus riches citoyens<br />
de Luxor ! ... En tout cas, voilà nos chasseurs<br />
partis à âne, avec Franck qui n'en manque<br />
pas une et avec Saleh qui goûte également<br />
ces [illisible] de vacances un peu<br />
extérieures à son métier de drogman. Ns,<br />
pendant leur absence, nous essayons de<br />
lire, dans la chaleur qui déjà dépaissit<br />
et s'écarter les mouches, les terribles mouches,<br />

ne cessent de nous harceler, comme pour<br />
